State Representative Brad Halbrook Appointed Minority Spokesman for

Government Services Appropriations Committee

Shelbyville, Illinois – State Representative Brad Halbrook will again serve as the Republican Minority Spokesman for the General Services Appropriations committee. In addition to this important assignment, Rep. Halbrook has been also assigned as the Minority Spokesman for Counties and Townships and as a member of the following four committees: Elementary and Secondary Education Appropriations, Cities and Villages, State Government, and Housing.

“I look forward to returning as the minority spokesman on the General Services Appropriations Committee. The committee has some bi-partisan moments where we discuss efficiencies important to saving taxpayer dollars,” said Rep. Halbrook. “I am also pleased to work on the key committees focused on local government. My goal is to keep the state out of the business of local government, to oppose unfunded mandates, and to support legislation that allows for property tax relief.”

Committee work is scheduled to begin February 7^th. In last year’s budget, the General Services Appropriations Committee oversaw over $1.8 billion in expenditures. The Elementary and Secondary Appropriations committee oversees nearly $10 billion in expenditures and represents the largest single general revenue expenditure in the annual budget other than pensions.
